| Others can argue forever about which battery contains the biggest charge. We know the ideal is to run indefinitely. |

| A Single Controller for the Whole Railroad- or One for Each Loco |
| Instead of a dozen compromises, we put bulletproof sealed lead batteries on board and quickly replaceable. This means a virtually transparent battery change that lets you choose how long to run - until you quit, not the engine. |
| You can run indefinitely because when a charge runs low, just a few second battery swap puts you on the road again. Separating the battery charging from the locomotive keeps you running when others have to quit to reload. |

| The Battery Backshop converts your existing G scale locomotive into real railroad power that performs like the prototype. It carries its own fuel and converts it to motion-under your on-board control. It is independent. It sounds, acts and feels like the real thing. This is what The Battery Backshop is all about. |
| You can operate your locomotive anywhere, anytime. Other power and control systems don’t bother you and you don’t bother them. NO SYSTEM OTHER THAN FULL-TIME BATTERY POWER CAN SAY THAT. |

| Sound Advice |
| Phoenix and Soundlinc account for most of our installations. Bachmann conversions can utilize their original sound as well. Other locomotive manufacturers’ sound systems are currently so large they must be replaced. Both Soundlinc and Phoenix have a menu of whistles, chuffs, and motor recordings which allow you to give your locomotives individual personalities and/or closely follow prototype choices. |

| What comes with my Quick Change Conversion ? Your conversion will include the receiver and, if ordered, the sound board. For your first conversion you’ll also need to buy a transmitter, a couple of batteries and a charger. Our conversions come ready-to-run with UPS shipping inside the USA included. Our batteries are available separately; different locomotives use different batteries depending on their size and shape. We offer a choice of chargers with a universal 500ma/12v economy charger or an automatic 12v charger with brains tell when a battery is full and then drop to a trickle charge. |
How much will my Quick Change Conversion cost ? A first conversion for the LOCOLINC throttle is broken down into five (5) different parts. This is because your next locomotive conversions will be much less expensive because you don’t need to buy all these parts again. The five parts are: 1) transmitter 2) batteries 3) charger for the batteries 4) the work and electronics inside the engine which is the actual “conversion” 5) sound (if you want to include it) By choosing the items you need from the following sections, you can get an accurate cost of any work you wish us to do. If you have any questions just email or telephone us. |
| How do I order my Quick Change Conversion ? Call The Battery Backshop for your conversion service. At that time we can discuss the work plan for your conversion. When your loco is ready for delivery we will let you know by phone or email and ask for payment at that time. When your check arrives, your loco will be sent to you by ground UPS. We are unable to accept credit cards at this time. Our conversions are built to careful design tolerances. This makes it possible to warranty your locomotive for a full year. Although battery power and LOCOLINC considerably improve any loco’s performance, we cannot make a poor running loco perform well. Be sure your individual locomotive runs to your satisfaction before sending it to us. This also means that we expect to start with an unaltered locomotive shipped in it’s original box. If you have made changes, be sure to call this to the Backshop’s attention. Any work to return your locomotive to a condition that fits our factory jigs and/or design will be charged at shop rates. |

| Here’s what you’ll need to get started: A transmitter The converted loco A couple of batteries A charger |
| PART ONE The transmitters generally used from LOCOLINC are either KT-2 or the KT-16. They are physically the same, the differences are in ‘speed dial’ capabilities. Every LOCOLINC transmitter will work with every LOCOLINC receiver that is made. The KT-2 can remember 2 at a time, the KT-16 can remember 16. You can run as many trains at the same time as you have ‘channels’ on your transmitter. By switching from one to another, you can independently speed up, slow down, reverse, etc. any one of the locos while the others continue to do what they were last told to do. A KT-2 can be later upgraded to a KT-16 at the factory. KT-2 $ 145.00 KT-16 $ 195.00 |
PART THREE If you have a 12-volt, half amp rate or less charger at home, it will work with these batteries. Our charger has a ‘fast’ charge (half amp) that senses a full charge and drops down to a sustainable trickle that lets you come back and remove your battery at any time, even days after you have started the charge. We also offer a universal 12-volt charger without the trickle charge. PSC12-500A $57.00 UN12V-500ma $20.00 |
| PART FOUR Our conversion charges vary depending on the parts involved. The prices below include all the work for sound except the sound board itself. Two Amp Throttle: (All LGB except articulated steam, Aristo C-16, Bachmann 10 Wheeler, follow car and others) Two Amp Quick Change $510.00 Conversion Five Amp Conversions: (All USA and AristoCraft narrow body diesels, LGB SVRY articulated, Bachmann 2-8-0, follow car and others) Five Amp Quick Change $570.00 Conversion LOCOLINC KLR-106 For High Amp Engines: (Aristo 6-axle diesels and USA 6-axle diesels) Add $10.00 to Five Amp Conversion costs. Wide Body Conversions: (All F or FA cab units from all manufactures) Five Amp Wide Body $580.00 Conversion includes batteries B Unit or Slave Conversions: No receiver or battery runs off A unit and includes connection (all manufacturers) B Unit Conversion $175.00 |
| PART TWO The Quick Change battery system is based on the robust and widely used 12-volt sealed lead gel cell. The variety of Quick Change batteries is based on the various spaces each locomotive has available. In every case the design is either to make battery swap an almost instantaneous ‘ten second’ affair or in the case of the F-unit diesels, the design is to be so big you won’t need to swap them at all. The bottom line is you don’ t want your engine idled while you wait for its battery to charge. For the first locomotive that uses any changeable Quick Change battery we recommend purchasing two batteries. Your next loco will likely need only one since we generally tend to split the load among our engines. If you would like additional specifics call or email us. BATTERY PRICE 0.8-12 $35.00 (Bachmann 4-4-0, 2-6-0) 1.0-12 $35.00 (Lehmann Porter) 1.2-12 $24.00 (LGB Mogul, 0-4-0 diesel, Bachmann 4-6-0, Shay, Aristo C-16 and others) 2.9-12 $26.00 (All narrow body diesels, Bachmann 2-8-0, USA and Aristo large steam) |
| OPTIONS All diesel conversions can, if you wish, have ditch lights (deck or front your choice), flashing dome lights, or both. Be sure to ask for them, there is no extra charge! For additional run time we can provide connections for external batteries. Ask for details for you particular locomotive. Quick Change battery power and radio control will allow you to operate your railroad much more like the prototype. You will find your road much more dependable and, very importantly, with no track cleaning you are ready to go at a moment’s notice. This kind of quick access makes sure your investment will get fully used and this easy operation will extend your railroads life. Getting together with friends to run or just watch trains is perhaps the final goal for our hobby. Feel free to call, send pictures and share your enjoyment of our mutual hobby. |
| PART FIVE The additional cost of sound reflects the cost of the actual sound board you choose. All other sound work is included in the basic conversion. Phoenix sound board $295.00 Soundlinc sound board $195.00 |

FAQ'S |
| Quick Change |
| We exclusively use LOCOLINC systems. With a LOCOLINC transmitter you can control up to sixteen locomotives, independently and at the same time! Not only that but you can independently control up to 64 turnouts-you can group up to four locos into a single unit all from one controller including sound. |
| Multiple Unit Control |
| Through LOCOLINC you can control up to four locomotives as a single unit. Pull locomotive number one up to the departure track, switch to number two and couple it on behind. Repeat with three and four-or put them at the back of the train, it doesn’t matter. When you’re ready, just switch channels again and the entire force takes off with a single command. Only the lead loco whistles and displays headlights. In reverse, only the rear loco’s back up light functions. This is sophistication achieved nowhere else. |
